About us

Meet Jennifer Joseph
I grew up playing all kinds of sports, and with that I’ve experienced the frustration of my injuries limiting activities I love. I wanted to know how to help myself live the most active life I could, pain free. Consistent workouts have kept me injury-free, enabling an active lifestyle. As soon as I began using the knowledge to help others overcome their current physical limitations, enjoy their hobbies again pain free, and feel happy and healthy in their own skin again, it became a passion. Overuse injuries can strike anytime, but a strong body is resilient.
I believe optimal health and physical fitness encompasses diet, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, body composition, and flexibility allowing you the ability to live the life you want to live as independently as possible for as long as possible! After 40, muscle mass declines faster each decade. Strength training prolongs this, promoting independence and pain-free living. I have coached everyone and anyone under the sun from 4 years old to 83. Each person has had the capability to be strong, powerful, independent and as youthful as they want to be. After all, age is just a number.
I’m passionate about helping clients garden again, keep up with kids or grandkids, or explore the world with 10,000+ steps/day. Everyone has their own story and reasons for embracing active aging and I’m here for it! Let’s make the most of life together!
My Philosophy
- Accessible: Making fitness achievable for everyone by breaking down complex routines into simple, actionable steps in an environment that best suits you, whether that be in person, in home, or online.
- Flexible: Tailoring your program so that it’s flexible and responsive to your changing circumstances so the programs meet individual needs and goals, ensuring sustainable progress.
- Consistent: Emphasizing the importance of regular, manageable steps towards long-term health and fitness goals.
- Supportive: Building a supportive community where clients feel encouraged and motivated by each other throughout their fitness journey to challenge themselves and overcome obstacles. Offering personalized guidance and motivation every step of the way.
- Progressive: We encourage clients to embrace gradual improvement, understanding that each small step forward contributes to greater resilience over time. We celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, reinforcing the belief that personal growth is a journey marked by meaningful milestones.
By focusing on these principles, Simple Steps equips its clients with the simple yet effective tools and mindset to cultivate resilience, empowering them to navigate life’s challenges with strength and confidence, one step at a time for lasting results.
You are stronger than you think you are! Let’s find out just how strong that really is!

My Professional History
My name is Jennifer Joseph! In my formative years I lived a busy, and active lifestyle while I competed at the national level in synchronized swimming. When I stopped swimming I realized I wanted to help other young athletes reach their own potential in the sport. So I became a National Level Certified Synchronized swimming coach. I coached synchro while in school to get my Occupational Therapy Assistant Diploma & Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma (OTA/PTA). After years of coaching young athletes from the recreational to national level and a diploma under my belt, I left to travel for a while. The coaching seemed to follow me. I started my travels by coaching a New Zealand club for room and board, then ended with running my own synchro club in Queenstown, NZ.
Once back home I attained my Personal Training Certification through CanFitPro. I started a job at Evoke Fitness by Personally Fit in New Hamburg, ON. I had the best of all my worlds. I used my OTA/PTA Diploma as a physiotherapy assistant, helping clients overcome various injuries and get back to a happier and healthier version of themselves. I coached group classes for adults and kids, and ran the dryland program for the town’s local swim team. I also had Personal Training clients that grew stronger than they ever thought possible. The best moments were when clients would beam with joy because their doctors told them their blood pressure, cholesterol, and risk of diabetes were back down. I even helped start the yoga program at Evoke!
I moved to Calgary in fall of 2022 and started working with Fit Body Bootcamp, coaching group fitness classes. I was the Head Coach for the senior program, ages 55+. Members ranged from 58-83 years old. I loved it! I was even awarded the Senior Program Head Coach of the Year Award for 2023 for my achievements in growing such a successful program. I also achieved my Active Aging Certificate during this time.
Throughout all of this I have had Personal Training clients, both online and in person in the comfort of their own homes.
I enjoy working one on one and getting to know my clients true goals. Classes are great, but breaking it down to the nitty gritty is where I thrive. When we focus on YOU we come up with a game plan to get you back to your best self. Let me even help you find your better than best! I know it’s in there!!
